Mark Beresford

As a child Mark stood with his father outside the cinema in Sheffield, a city famed for its steel production in the North of England. He remembers the cold winter fog that would fill the streets and skies of the city. Within this he would see the silhouettes of people, lights of all colour and description filtering through the grey atmosphere, feel it’s busyness, it’s sense of place, it’s story.
These unique attributes is what Mark brings to his work, to allow the viewer into the scene. To share those very heartfelt moments. His escape from the hustle and bustle of daily life lies in the tranquility and beauty of the Isles of Scilly. Miles from anywhere the soft white sands and turquoise blue seas seduce, captivate and inspire. The silence is broken by gentle flow of the tide and the voice of Mother Nature. Under the Scillonian skies every note is absorbed and captured eventually being depicted on canvas.
